Bali

(Indonesia Part 7)

Some of you may remember that in 2019, we took a trip out to Bali. It was my third travel blog, and because I was obsessed with puns, it was titled ‘Bali & Me’ and for the homepage I photoshopped my face onto a dog on the beach for your amusement.

Throwback

Nowadays, we’re much more sophisticated, with artsy banners and slick website design (I hope), but I like to think the heart of the blog remains the same.

Days 143 – 152 – West Bali

Nostalgia OVER, here is a photoblog of our time in West Bali. We stayed in West Bali National Park (home to endemic Bali Starling), Pemuteran (beach heaven) & Medewi (sleepy surfer hangout). As aforementioned, we were pretty sick for the first half of this, and honestly had only really recovered by the time we left, so the focus was less on adventures and more on recovery, when the choice was even presented us. We still have fond memories though!

The pool at the ecolodge
Happy the worst day of illness is over
We managed a bird tour with Yasa, a fellow bird enthusiast and member of staff at the eco-lodge. He took us to his village and home after for coffee and fruit.

A branchfull of Scaly-breasted Munias
Onto Pemuteran! Breakfast on our bungalow terrace
These adorable ginger cats lived in a series of Hindu shrines on the path to the beach and would come to miaow and fall at our feet for cuddles every time we passed by. <3
Pemuteran Beach. Black sand for the volcanoes. We had some lovely sunsets here, the mountains at our backs.
Medewi! Another black sand affair, wide and sweeping and hazy
Medewi beach, you don’t have to share it with many people…
Oh and the sunsets…
are pretty…
Spectacular!
I can’t imagine this boat has made it very close to Istanbul
Colourful fishing boats and women line the shore
One last sunset in Bali

I hope you enjoyed this photographic interlude. Next up is our liveaboard trip in Komodo National Park, a huge highlight of our entire trip. See you then!

Some great photos ! Love the line of birdies and then ginger cats. Looks like you had the place to yourselves!
