Perhentian Islands

(Malaysia Part 2)

Days 92 – 97 – Perhentian Islands Photo Blog

The Perhentians are two incredible paradise islands right in the North East of Malaysia. They’re a bit of a faff to get to, and then get to anywhere from, but it’s worth the journeys for the truly astounding clear waters and marine life under the waves. We had the best underwater experience of our lives (see above), surrounded by thousands of fish in shoals, swarming round a wreck. The beaches are ridiculous – white or gold. The only downside of the whole thing was that sometimes it was too hot, which we try not to complain too much about!

Due to the epic relaxation in which we indulged, there’s not much in the way of adventure here other than a brilliant dive and some shark snorkelling, so this blog is a photo episode. Enjoy!

Arriving on the boat
The final stretch
We made it!
Big smiles, we’ve landed in paradise
We got a water taxi to ‘Long Beach’ for dinner
Sunset there was picturesque
And followed by a very dramatic full moon-rise!
Under the sea
Need I say more?

Snorkel time

Black-tip Shark, we saw many!
Walking through the island
Sunset on Rosemary Beach
Magical sunset, I’ve never seen a sharper horizon
A clear night sky
